Manager, Curriculum

Position summary

The curriculum manager will be responsible for creating learning materials and educational instruction that is based on learning objectives for our internal staff and external customers and partners. The curriculum that is designed will be supported through the learning management system. The position will report to the director of training and education. The position will be responsible for managing the curriculum specialist.

Position description

Manages learning content creation, design and evaluation (50%)

  • Work with department heads and subject matter experts to identify target audience’s training needs
  • Work with subject matter experts to develop abstracts, objectives and content to meet the target audience’s needs
  • Determine the flow of how courses should be taken by the learner and any prerequisite work that is needed
  • Work with the content manager and training manager to create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer
  • Align course work with the person’s job description as determined by their departmental needs
  • Align course offerings for clients based on their needs during implementation, at go-live and ongoing
  • Work with internal subject matter experts and curriculum specialist to determine the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments
  • Other duties as assigned

Manages and maintains the learning management system (LMS) and other tools to develop curriculum (50%)

  • Coordinate the creation, management and enforcement of LMS system standards, policies and procedures and drive continuous process improvement
  • Manage the learning management system and the resource needs to support effective implementation, maintenance and utilization of users
  • Collaborate with various departments within the organization to conduct needs assessments and strengthen learning and development relations within the company
  • Design and maintain brand, accuracy and up-to-date LMS presence
  • Keep departments apprised of issues/challenges through quality assurance and seek resolution where applicable
  • Maintain data integrity and processes for the LMS such as course codes, descriptions and other required information
  • Manage all workday and company-sponsored LMS activities
  • Manage users and courses in the LMS
  • Report LMS data and trends to management
  • Measure, monitor and report on the effectiveness of all training and education activities related to the LMS
  • Organize and disseminate all functional training and communication materials
  • Perform an annual assessment of training goals, deficiencies and requirements
  • Provide LMS training and support for employees, external stakeholders and clients

Qualification / requirements

  • BS or MA degree in education, educational technology or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • 5+ years of experience in hospital/health-related area or must possess transferable skills
  • Experience as a trainer is preferred with Association for Talent Development (ATD) courses and/or certifications with a focus in training delivery, instructional design or knowledge management
  • Proven work experience in curriculum development and design
  • Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design methods/models
  • Excellent lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision
  • Maintain a remote office environment conducive to conducting business in a private environment without interruption.
  • Pharmacy related experience required in hospital and/or retail, pharmacy certification, 340B ACE or equivalent experience preferred; optional experience in coding/billing
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills, including experience in presentations and facilitation of meetings with the ability to manage remote learning
  • Organization and time management skills, self-starter that can prioritize workload
  • Ability to understand Sentry Data Systems’ operations and business processes with enthusiasm and aptitude for technology
  • Ability to utilize collaboration, scheduling, workflow and management tools and software to support departmental activities (i.e. Salesforce, Litmos, Pendo, Brainshark, Schedule Once, Teams, Confluence)
  • Ability to communicate with supervisor in order to prioritize workload and determine priorities
  • Flexibility to schedule changes and the ability to adjust to rapidly changing conditions
  • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System
  • Demonstrated experience with e-learning authoring software (Articulate Storyline 2 preferred) including development of storyboards, scripting, recording/editing, publishing of SCORM and evaluation
  • Target and deadline-driven, ability to work effectively within time constraints and while still delivering complete and high-quality education materials
  • This position requires minimal travel. Travel is outside the local area and overnight.
