Director, Product Management

Position summary:

The Director, Product Management oversees research for new products, product enhancements, and product redesign. Ensures that the product management activities align with the goals of the organization and makes recommendations to the key stakeholders on the potential and practicality of products in management. The Director, Product Management will oversee all product management functions including directly supervising the product management team including product managers, subject matter experts and business analysts.

Position description:

  • Lead and direct product managers in process of developing and executing short-term and long-term roadmap planning
  • Directs and coordinates development priorities  to meet short-term and long-term revenue objectives
  • Clearly articulates product roadmaps (including stabilization and modernization efforts) to senior management  and less technical business and financial decision makers
  • Determine and promote methods and procedures for monitoring and managing projects, such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, in order to inform management of current status of each product development initiative
  • Promotes the dissemination of information related to product features and enhancements directors and managers throughout the organization including sales, marketing, implementation and customer support departments; oversees product development staff including product managers, subject matter experts and business analysts who perform the following:
    • Work with key influencers/stakeholders to define optimal product feature and enhancement solutions to meet corporate goals and vision
    • Author Epics, user stories and tasks based on product ideas and solutions
    • Work with the user interface team to support mock-ups and prototypes for new product features and modifications to existing features
  • Work closely with technology teams to answer questions about test cases and feature details through a Scrum agile framework; this involves being highly available and responsive
  • Support the use of change requests for managing modifications to the product backlog
  • Approve/reject deliverables from the product development team in product demonstration sessions based on requirements/user stories
  • Work with customer service, operations, sales and marketing departments to communicate solutions to current and prospective customers
  • Directs the work efforts of other product managers, business analysts; provides coaching and mentoring of other product managers
  • Develops and directs product management team in identifying and implementing best practices and standard process for requirements definition, management, roadmap planning and execution
  • Gains consensus across the various stakeholder groups and forges/maintains excellent working relationships above/below/across the organization
  • Directs the product management team to integrate  competitive, business and resource considerations to develop product plans in market place
  • Directs the team to monitor and report on product KPI’s act as the voice of the customer for both 340B and analytics solutions
  • Directs the team to deliver product features, enhancements and fixes with flawless execution (on time, within budget, highest quality)

Qualification / requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of related experience
  • 5+ years’ experience working with hospital/health care leadership and in product management
  • Experience in hospital pharmaceutical, supply chain and business intelligence technology platforms
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); PC, printers, computerized voice and e-mail systems; experience in a sales or corporate management experience recommended
  • Familiarity with health industry data formats, standard transaction layouts and electronic supply chain reconciliation methodologies
  • Experience with Agile software development preferred

  • This position will manage employees of their department and responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees
  • This position requires up to 25% travel outside the local area and overnight
