Accounts Receivable Analyst I

Position summary

The Accounts Receivable Analyst I is responsible for managing end-to-end accounts receivable processes. This includes contract analysis and interpretation of documents to generate accounts receivable invoicing and serving as a customer liaison for new account setup, customer invoicing and payment questions. The Accounts Receivable Analyst I will work with other departments to maintain accounts and understand billing and contract agreements. This role may develop methods and procedures which relate to manual or automated systems and makes recommendations to improve company effectiveness and efficiency.

Position description

  • New customer account set up and maintenance of existing accounts; working with other departments to update all systems
  • Contact internal and external customers to clarify or obtain additional information on complex billing issues regarding invoices and agreements/amendments
  • Create invoices for additional pharmacies by reviewing go-live notifications, pharmacy status reports and agreements/amendments
  • Analyze and interpret contracts to create billing and revenue recognition schedules
  • Assist with revenue recognition analyses and adjustments
  • Process nonstandard billing transactions of moderate complexity
  • Analyze and deliver ad hoc reports to assist in billing resolution
  • Work with other departments, outside providers, internal and external customers to resolve issues, improve processes and ensure understanding by all parties
  • Process account adjustments, such as credit memos as necessary
  • Provide customer support for billing interpretation
  • Troubleshoots various inquiries with appropriate research and problem-solving techniques by applying limited judgment and discretion
  • Provide recommendations for policies and creates procedures for continuous improvement
  • Understand all relevant contract billing clauses and any other special billing instructions outlined in the customer’s contract
  • Performs analysis of billing history and reconciles invoices to customer
  • Post and/or review payment information from various systems
  • Set up billing attributes for contracts in accounting system for creation of contract billing file to maintain invoice documentation
  • Work with large consumer bases handling consumer billing tasks such as invoicing, reconciliation and account maintenance
  • Drive external customer requests such as invoice reconciliation, status updates/changes and site reporting
  • Handle internal requests such as adjustments, payments, invoice reconciliation, account reconciliation, ad-hoc reporting and billing inquiries
  • Other projects as assigned by finance management

 Qualifications / requirements

  • Associates degree in accounting or accounting course work preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required or equivalent combination of related experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience in invoicing, customer relations and accounts receivable
  • Working with and interpreting legal contracts
  • Basic accounting understanding of sub-ledger and general ledger relationship
  • ERP accounting software experience required, Intacct experience preferred
  • Salesforce and SharePoint experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook required
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work with minimum/no supervision
  • Superior and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized
  • Ability to meet deadlines and plan work and schedule accordingly
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients and the public
  • Willingness to be part of a team-unit and cooperate in the accomplishment of departmental goals and objectives
