Vice President, Project Management

Position summary:

The Vice President, Project Management (VP, PM) will oversee the planning, implementation, and tracking of client projects, including oversight of the project managers and teams, and implementation engineers. This position also serves as the primary liaison between the implementation and project teams, operations, executive leadership, IT leadership, and the sales/business development teams. In this role, the Vice President will be responsible for making key decisions impacting the outcome of the Implementation departmental budget and client satisfaction.

Position description:

  • Establish and maintain a successful project management office
  • Work closely with Senior level management to meet company goals and objectives
  • Provide regular updates on key performance indicators to Executive Team
  • Give direction for contractor relationships within team, including appropriate accounting for billable time and approving invoices
  • Ensure staffing levels are adequate to meet the internal resource demand while maintaining appropriate levels of team utilization
  • Analyze projects and recommend opportunities to increase revenue or reduce costs
  • Work with other department leadership to assign appropriate resources to projects
  • Collaborate with sales and sales operations staff
  • Partner with related teams to resolve project escalations and scope creep issues
  • Encourage direct reports to ensure that project customer satisfaction ratings meet or exceed company standards
  • Provide management support, mentorship to Implementation Director
  • Meet regularly with direct reports to ensure clear communication on project status and prioritization
  • Conduct performance reviews for direct reports
  • Engage additional resources as necessary to ensure a positive client experience
  • As necessary, travel to client sites to mitigate concerns and maintain positive client relationships
  • Evaluate department(s) efficiencies and make changes/recommendations to ensure proactive focus on process improvement
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients and third party vendors
  • Perform other duties as necessary to support company objectives

Qualification / requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience; advanced degree a plus
  • 10+ years’ progressive experience managing complex projects through the entire project lifecycle
  • 5+ years management/supervisory experience
  • 5+ years’ experience implementing products or services in a healthcare related industry
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
  • Experience leading large teams of project management professionals
  • Experience and knowledge of PMI disciplines
  • Demonstrated planning, project management, problem-solving techniques, and analytical skills
  • Ability to partner and communicate with all levels of an organization from hourly associates to executives, as well as with customer contacts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and database systems
  • Knowledge of 340B regulations a plus
  • Strong knowledge of IT industry standards and practices related to healthcare
  • Strong knowledge of hospital/pharmacy workflows, prescribing practices and revenue cycle management within a health care organization
  • Understanding of Medicare/Medicaid billing practices
  • Familiarity with various HIS systems such as EPIC, Meditech, Cerner, Sorian, etc.

  • This position will manage employees of their department and responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees
  • This position requires up to 25% travel outside the local area and overnight
