Senior Software Developer

Position summary:

A Sentry Senior Software Developer is a self-motivated, responsible technologist who thrives in an agile, demanding environment and is driven to understand and meet customer expectations, deliver defect free software and follow architectural best practices. If in a team lead capacity, this individual will expect the same of their team and operate as a leader and mentor pushing the individuals and team to continuously improve.

Qualifications / requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent combination of related experience
  • 6+ years of experience as a Software Developer
  • Must have experience with web-based technologies
  • Must have a strong understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Must have a strong understanding of object-oriented principles and design
  • Must be well-versed in database concepts, relational databases, and SQL
  • Must have experience with Unix/Linux
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts and technologies a plus
  • Sets high personal expectations, has high sense of ownership, and expects the same in others
  • Driven to solve problems and get work done quickly
  • Understands problems by establishing prototypical real world examples, scenarios, and simulations
  • Communicates the right information, at the right level of detail and at the right time, according to technical, business, and customer needs
  • Readily makes decisions under pressure or with imperfect information
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationship with all levels of staff and the public
  • Detail orientated with the ability to work with minimum/no supervision
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written communication
  • Willingness to be part of a team-unit and cooperate in the accomplishment of departmental goals and objectives
