Quality Assurance Analyst

Position summary:

Quality Assurance Analysts are responsible for the overall quality of Sentry’s products and services by analyzing software requirements, developing test plans, executing test cases and reporting issues to their development team. Must be able think critically about the products and services Sentry provides and understand how the system, as a whole, functions. As an advocate for quality, QA Analysts should encourage a culture of quality ownership within their development team.

Position description:

  • Work closely with developers and product managers to review and analyze software requirements
  • Design and write test plans and test case documentation
  • Execute test plans and test cases
  • Stay up-to-date with changes to Sentry’s products and services to assure future testing activities account for possible cross-product impacts
  • Regularly meet with other Quality Assurance Analysts and leads to share knowledge and identify / correct processes or procedures in need of improvement

Qualifications / requirements:

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology preferred or equivalent combination of related experience
  • 2+ years’ experience of technical software testing/quality assurance or development
  • Understanding the role of QA within the software development life cycle
  • Experience designing and writing test plans and test cases
  • Ability to read and understand technical specifications
  • Ability to think critically, ask informed questions and solve problems
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Understanding of established industry standards around web applications and web application development

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with SQL and relational databases
  • Experience with Unix/Linux and VIM a plus
  • Automated testing experience, especially Selenium
  • Experience with SDLC and tracking tools like JIRA
  • Experience in an Agile software environment
  • Development experience a plus, such as PHP, Java, Ruby or JavaScript
