Manager, Training

Position summary:

The Manager, Training is responsible for the effective development, coordination and delivery of educational programs for clients, partners and internal staff. The Manager, Training assesses development needs across departments to drive training initiatives in collaboration with Human Resources and other customer engaged departments. This position actively searches for new ways to improve staff development and competencies with all product lines and service lines offered. The position will also be the liaison with the development and technical resources, professional services and marketing to ensure all information regarding product functionality is current and the market strategy department is knowledgeable.

Position description:

  • Manages team to provide education and training programs for Sentry’s stakeholders, both external and internal. Works with various groups internally and externally to ensure customer focus and satisfaction through customer training plans and educational needs
  • Coordinates and leads staff through regular meetings/forums to communicate process, policy and procedures, project updates, and administrative updates
  • Organizes and prioritizes the development and evaluation of training and education resources for utilization in a learning management system internally and externally
  • Collaborates with training specialists, coordinators and the PMO office to organize workload and document processes for remote and onsite needs to ensure appropriate staffing levels (through PMO intake process)
  • Responsible for reviewing and modifying departmental reports to assess effectiveness and efficiency of workflow
  • Collaborates with management to provide feedback to contribute to the functionality of the system
  • Engages training steering committee and provides executive team with overall line of sight to team goals and priorities
  • Collaborates with the 340B compliance & audit teams to ensure internal education from completed audits is disseminated to the department and incorporated into training as necessary
  • Collaborates with Sentry’s marketing team to develop guides, agendas, newsletter articles and updates to share with appropriate audiences
  • Assists in conducting customer research and maintain an understanding of the customer and industry needs to enhance product and service offerings
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications / requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in business administration or equivalent experience required
  • Healthcare or pharmacy degree preferred; additional certificate or training programs in education or customer service are desired
  • 10+ years of experience in hospital/health-related area or must possess transferable skills
  • 5+ years of experience in a managerial position
  • Must have strong facilitation, instructional design and E-Learning capabilities with examples to substantiate
  • Thorough understanding of learning principles, adult learning theory, needs and job task analysis and instructional design
  • Experienced with both internal and external training linked to software product releases
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools and techniques.
  • Adequate knowledge of learning management systems software
  • Pharmacy-related experience required in Hospital and/or Retail with a preference for 340B experience
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Organization and time management skills

  • Ability to understand Sentry Data Systems’ operations and business processes
  • Ability to communicate with Supervisor in order to prioritize workload and determine priorities
  • Flexibility to schedule changes and the ability to adjust to rapidly changing conditions
  • Ability to utilize management tools and software to support departmental activities (Salesforce, Litmos, Pendo, Brainshark)
  • High level of computer proficiency required for Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), PC, printers, computerized voice and e-mail systems; experience with Webex or Skype is a plus
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients and the public
  • Detail / process oriented with the ability to work with minimum / no supervision
  • High-energy leader that thrives from being part of a team-unit to accomplish the organizational and departmental goals and objectives
  • Professional demeanor both on the phone and in person
  • Supervisory responsibilities – this position will manage employees of their department and responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees
  • This position requires up to 25% travel outside the local area and overnight
