Manager, Training

Position summary

The training manager manages a team of training specialists and collaborates with other peer leads on the training team for curriculum, content and instructional design. The position will be responsible for delivering training to clients (i.e. covered entities which may include hospitals, community health centers and other grantees), external partners (i.e. consultants, pharmacies) and employees. This person will possess the ability to adapt to changing focus and needs for Sentry Data Systems. This position supports internal Sentry departments and the ongoing Sentry clients and consultants. In addition, this position will assist in the development of training and education materials in collaboration with other training management and staff, for internal and external use. The training manager role requires interaction with a wide variety of client personnel, from senior management to operational staff both internally and externally.

Position description

  • Performs the role of a training specialist (30%)
  • Manages training specialists to deliver education and training programs for Sentry’s stakeholders, both external and internal and conducts regular evaluation for quality improvement of programs (70%)
    • Conducts regular team meetings/forums to communicate process, policy and procedures, project updates and administrative updates
    • Collaborates with training team members and external departments to organize workload and document processes for remote and onsite needs to ensure appropriate staffing levels
    • Responsible for creating, reviewing and modifying departmental reports to assess effectiveness and efficiency of workflow and productivity
    • Collaborates with product management team to provide feedback to contribute to the functionality of the system
    • Participates in cross-departmental training steering committee and provides director with overall line of sight to team goals and priorities
    • Coordinates with the project management team on joint planning efforts to train customers for implementation
    • Assists the director to carry out programs with the human resources team to ensure onboarding, continuing education and other required training offerings are offered utilizes the most effective training and education tools
    • Assists the 340B Compliance & Audit team to ensure internal education from completed audits is disseminated to the department and incorporated into training as necessary
    • Assists Sentry’s marketing team to develop guides, agendas, newsletter articles and updates to share with appropriate audiences
    • Manages scheduling for training specialists

Qualifications / requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent combination of related experience
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • 5+ years of experience in hospital/health-related area or must possess transferable skills
  • Experience as a trainer is preferred with Association for Talent Development (ATD) courses and/or certifications with a focus in training delivery, instructional design or knowledge management
  • Pharmacy related experience required in hospital and/or retail, pharmacy certification, 340B ACE or equivalent experience preferred; optional experience with coding/billing
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills, including experience in presentations and facilitation of meetings with the ability to manage remote learning
  • Organization and time management skills, self-starter that can prioritize workload
  • Ability to understand Sentry Data Systems’ operations and business processes with enthusiasm and aptitude for technology
  • Ability to utilize collaboration, scheduling, workflow, and management tools and software to support departmental activities (i.e. Salesforce, Litmos, Pendo, Brainshark, Schedule Once, Teams, Confluence)
  • Ability to work independent in a remote environment with minimal supervision
  • Communicates with supervisor in order to prioritize workload and determine priorities
  • Flexibility to schedule changes and the ability to adjust to rapidly changing conditions
  • High level of computer proficiency required for Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), PC, printers, computerized voice & e-mail systems; experience with Webex, Teams or Skype is a plus with ability to utilize polling and engagement features
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients and the public
  • Detail/process-oriented with the ability to work with minimum supervision

  • This position requires up to 25% travel, outside the local area and overnight
  • This position will manage up to seven (7) direct reports in the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of these employees
