Director, Training and Education

Position summary

The Director, Training and Education is responsible for the effective development, coordination and delivery of educational programs for clients, external partners and internal staff related to our products and services. The Director, Training and Education assesses development needs across departments to drive training initiatives in collaboration with human resources and other departments that may involve corporate initiatives regarding compliance, security and other department-specific curriculum needs that utilize the learning management system (LMS). This position actively searches for innovative ways to improve staff development and competencies. The position is a liaison across all Sentry Data Systems’ departments to ensure all information regarding product functionality is current and the departments are knowledgeable.

Position description

  • Manage team to provide education and training programs for Sentry’s stakeholders, both external and internal
  • Collaborate with various groups internally and externally to ensure customer focus and satisfaction through customer training plans and educational offerings
  • Coordinate and lead staff through regular meetings/forums to communicate process, policy and procedures, project updates and administrative updates
  • Organize and prioritize the development and evaluation of training and education resources for utilization both in an LMS for internal and external use as well as for programs outside of an LMS (training events or customer conferences)
  • Collaborate with training team members and external departments to organize workload and document processes for remote and onsite needs to ensure appropriate staffing levels
  • Responsible for creating, reviewing and modifying departmental reports to assess effectiveness and efficiency of workflow
  • Collaborate with product management team to provide feedback to contribute to the functionality of the system
  • Lead cross-departmental training steering committee and provide executive team with overall line of sight to team goals and priorities
  • Collaborate with the project management team on joint planning efforts to train customers for implementation
  • Collaborate with the human resources team to ensure onboarding, continuing education and other required trainings are offered utilizing the most effective training and education tools
  • Collaborate with the 340B compliance and audit team to ensure internal education from completed audits is disseminated to the department and incorporated into training as necessary
  • Collaborate with Sentry’s marketing team to develop guides, agendas, newsletter articles and updates to share with appropriate audiences
  • Assist in conducting customer research and maintain an understanding of the customer needs and industry needs to enhance product and service offerings with product management
  • Exemplify the desired culture, philosophies and guiding principles of the organization
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification / requirements

  • Bachelor’s in business administration or equivalent experience required
  • Healthcare or pharmacy degree preferred; additional certificate or training programs in education or customer service are desired
  • 10+ years of experience in hospital/health-related area or must possess transferable skills
  • 5+ years of experience in a managerial position
  • ACE certification preferred
  • Pharmacy related experience required in hospital and/or retail with a preference for 340B experience
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Accomplish follow-through and prioritize workloads
  • Intermediate level of budget planning and expense management
  • Ability to understand Sentry Data Systems’ operations and business processes
  • Ability to communicate with supervisor in order to prioritize workload and determine priorities
  • Flexibility to schedule changes and the ability to adjust to rapidly changing conditions
  • Ability to utilize collaboration, scheduling, workflow and management tools and software to support departmental activities (i.e. Salesforce, Litmos, Pendo, Brainshark, Schedule Once, Teams, Confluence)
  • High level of computer proficiency required for Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), PC, printers, computerized voice & e-mail systems; experience with Webex, Microsoft Teams or Skype is a plus with ability to utilize polling and engagement features
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients and the public
  • Detail/process-oriented with the ability to work with minimum/no supervision
  • High-energy leader that thrives from being part of a team-unit to accomplish the organizational and departmental goals and objectives with experience managing remote teams
  • Professional demeanor both on the phone and in person
  • This position will manage employees of their department and responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees
  • This position requires up to 25% travel outside the local area and overnight
