Content and Instructional Design Manager

Position summary

The Content and Instructional Design Manager will assist design and develop e-learning and practicing experiences. The goal is to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner. Content and Instructional Design Manager will work interdepartmentally to develop content needs and the appropriate instructional design using learning content tools. This position reports to the Education and Training Director.

Position description

  • Work with the curriculum manager to create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer
  • State instructional end goals and create content that matches them
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role-plays, games, etc.)
  • Decide on the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders in training team collaboration tool environments

Qualifications / requirements

  • BS or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar
  • Proven work experience in instructional design
  • 1+ year(s) of experience writing external customer-facing, internal customer content, including designing and developing instructor-led and/or e-Learning technical content
  • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Knowledge of HTML and Flash programming helpful
  • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System
  • Demonstrated experience with e-learning authoring software (Articulate Storyline 2 preferred) including development of storyboards, scripting, recording/editing, publishing of SCORM and evaluation
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  • Target and deadline driven, ability to work effectively within time constraints and while still delivering complete and high-quality education materials.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients and the public
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written communication
  • Willingness to be part of a team-unit and cooperate in the accomplishment of departmental goals and objectives
  • Organization and time management skills, self-starter that can prioritize workload
  • Ability to understand Sentry Data Systems’ operations and business processes with enthusiasm and aptitude for technology
  • Ability to utilize collaboration, management tools and software to support departmental activities (i.e. Salesforce, Litmos, Pendo, Brainshark, Schedule Once, Teams, Confluence)
  • Ability to communicate with supervisor in order to prioritize workload and determine priorities
  • Flexibility to schedule changes and the ability to adjust to rapidly changing conditions
  • This position requires minimal travel outside the local area and overnight
