Atlassian Systems Administrator

Position summary

The Atlassian Systems Administrator is primarily responsible for administering, maintaining and supporting assigned applications including the Atlassian product suite (e.g., Confluence, Jira, Service Desk). In coordination and alignment with the development and operations team, the Atlassian Systems Administrator will help create, test and deploy applications between assigned applications and other internal systems. The Administrator will be the primary support contact and provide support for escalated and complex issues. The Administrator will embody the organizations’ mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy.

Position description

  • Create, customize and administer Jira dashboards and reports for metrics collection
  • Analyze, review and document current functionality to determine potential areas of improvement
  • Manage user permissions for tools according to the needs of projects and teams
  • Perform application and system administration tasks, including data backups and scheduled jobs
  • Test new versions of the tools and plug-ins to ensure compatibility
  • Perform new version upgrades
  • Research and utilize industry-standard methods and techniques
  • Maintain JIRA projects, automated processes, workflows, permissions and users
  • Improve JIRA security. Set access permissions for JIRA projects and Confluence spaces.
  • Work with JIRA filters, reporting, dashboards, workflows, fields and JIRA administration
  • Communicate and share knowledge with internal and external contacts at all levels
  • Manage multiple responsibilities with tight deadlines
  • Support data governance within Atlassian products
  • Other responsibilities as defined

Qualifications / requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer science or related discipline equivalent combination of related experience
  • 4+ years of experience as administrator and supporting multiple Atlassian products and plugins, including but not limited to, Jira and Confluence with specific focus on Jira
  • 4+ years of experience customizing Jira dashboards and Jira projects with various schemes, complex workflows, screen schemes, permission schemes and notification schemes
  • Experience with Atlassian on-prem solutions
  • Ability to write custom JQL (Jira Query Language)
  • Ability to construct Confluence pages and integrate JIRA projects with Confluence pages is a must
  • Experience in performing Atlassian installations, upgrades and plugin installation is a must
  • Experience with using Atlassian REST APIs is a plus
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge on overall development space and how different functions within SDLC interact with each other
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic agile environment
  • Must have strong work ethic with good time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Position involves some interfacing with internal customers
